The Old Residence of Masataka Kusumoto

Masataka Kusumoto was born in 1838 in Iwabune, Omura-han. He built this residence in 1867, and it still stands today. He was one of the 37 samurai of Omura-han in the final years of the Edo period and was involved in the movement to overthrow the Tokugawa shogunate.
In the Meiji period, he was active as an executive official and later became the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan.
